PARENT GUIDELINES!

"Parent Rage at USA youth games has become epidemic.  It is no longer accepted or tolerated.  Parents will be removed from fields.  They can be removed for the entire season depending on the offense.  Almost 500 referees quit in Western PA after Fall 2015 due to conduct on the sidelines and coach abuse.  It was actually over 700 in January but Western PA referee committee extended the re-cert test deadline and attracted around 200 into coming back.  Not locally.  Our association stretches from Erie PA to the Ohio border, to State College and down to Wheeling.   Parents can expect to serve this season as "club linesmen" during games.  Too many referees have quit.  Referees are often young for a reason -- because adults refuse to be berated that way and won't officiate games.  Coaches must control spectators during games.  Spectators are the responsibility of the coach.  It is also causing 70% youth players to quit by age 13yrs.  The ratio of players quitting in the USA compared to other countries is enormous.  The #1 reason stated -- "It's no longer good" or "It's not fun any more".  Parents, give this game back to the kids.  It is not about parents, it is about the kids.  Remain quiet on the sidelines.  Let the coaches coach, let the players play, let the Spectators watch.  Referees will no longer tolerate screaming spectators, they will simply be asked to leave or the game is terminated immediately if they do not go."
